If you’ve had a digital product idea on your mind for quite some time – it’s not too late to get started. Let’s explore exactly how to sell digital products in 2026: step by step.
I’ve been in the digital product business for more than a decade and one thing I can say with certainty is that digital products are here to stay.
Over years, trends come and go, focus and general preferences shift from one type of offers to others, but at the end of the day, your ideal audience is still out there, willing to LEARN. And creating a digital product is YOUR way of reaching them.
Where to get started?
Assuming that you already have years of field experience under your belt, you are more than qualified to finally turn all of that experience into a profitable digital product.
If you’ve been running an offline business, providing done-for-you support or supported your clients with coaching or consulting offers, here are some of the first steps to consider in your digital product creation journey.
Start with what you love the most
Look into your experience and consider what it is that you actually love to do the most. While you may be running a successful business you love, there may be an aspect of it you like more than others. For example, as a digital product creator myself, I love the backend setup and page design the most throughout all the process. So that’s where I’d start.
Consider when have you received the best feedback
It may be the same aspect of your business that you yourself love the most – naturally, that’s what you may be the best at and therefore receive the best feedback on! But maybe there’s a specific direction or type of support that repeatedly excites your clients the most. For example, if you are a coach, is there a specific topic in your coaching offer that may be standing out?
Think about the bigger picture
What it is that you want to be known for? What type of niche or specific focus could you provide? Is there a type of audience you’d prefer to serve? What would be your “loud and proud” type of mission statement?
Don’t overthink it: start with what feels right
And while putting some consideration into it all is important, it’s also important to listen to your gut feeling and do what feels the best! Is there a specific product or offer idea you’d really LOVE to create? Start there.
What type of digital products make the most sales in 2026?
The answer to this question really depends.
There isn’t just one ideal product to go for and the best fit and potentially highest profit idea will really depend on your topic, your audience and messaging.
However, here are some digital product ideas that have been doing great repeatedly:
Masterclasses and Workshops
Such a solid golden standard: a Masterclass or Workshop is a great chance to provide your audience a quick win OR in-depth guidance in a quick format, giving them a chance to solve a problem or reach a specific goal.
Masterclasses and Workshops usually are on the lower price range so they’re easier to sell as your audience won’t be questioning the investment as they might if the product costs hundreds of dollars.
They also work well as the early phase of your digital product funnel.
Courses
Yes, courses are still rock’n’rolling. While the overall digital product landscape has changed A LOT in the recent years and it’s definitely not the same as it was in 2022-ish, courses still are in high-demand.
Purchasing an online course from a field professional is one of the most reliable ways to get up-to-date information focused on a specific goal your audience is trying to reach.
As a course creator myself, I’ve seen many different shifts and changes of the course world but they’re still an amazing idea to go for if your offer is aligned with the course concept.
Memberships
Recurring revenue is one of the best ways to create a scalable digital product and offering a membership is a great way to do just that.
Besides that, memberships often are lower ticket opportunity to get high-end results.
And if your niche or offer idea is aligned with the concept of more regular updates or access to additional support, membership really can be an amazing choice.
E-books and guides
Contrary to a popular belief, e-books and PDF-based guides can still sell like hot cakes.
In one of my latest Savvy Offer Hub podcast episodes, I have talked more about one of my client’s success stories specifically with low-ticket PDF guides.
While it’s not as interactive as an online course or a membership would be, it can be a quick way to get started and serve great in the early days of your digital product funnel.
Tools to create digital products
This is that part of the journey that often scares many first-time creators. It’s the transition from what’s in your mind to actual product to sell.
So here are a few tools to use in the process to keep it simple:
Canva for any of your design needs
Canva is a free online design tool that most of you will probably be familiar with already.
It’s the perfect fit for all of your design needs: from slide designs for masterclasses to e-book designs and well beyond.
Plus you get access to plenty of various templates to get started with, even on the free plan.
But if you ever feel the need to upgrade your designs, you can explore CreativeMarket for templates as well.
Google Docs for worksheets or e-books
While Canva is easy-to-use, Google Docs are even easier!
If you seek solution for Workbook design or other similar materials, create brand-aligned Google Docs that can later be easily shared with your audience.
Alternatively, you can also use Word for this but Google Docs can be easier to share.
Descript or Loom for screen recordings and edits
Both Descript and Loom can be amazing tools for easily recording your screen (like slide recordings for your course content) with the “talking head” bubble or voiceover only.
I personally prefer Descript as you can later edit your videos by editing text transcript rather than actual video editing plus you can easily add captions and other video elements, without extensive video editing experience.
