Online course sales page template: sales page prompts for online courses

Your sales page is the key element your potential students will see and evaluate before making the decision to buy your course. Follow this online course sales page template and make the best of your page!

It’s 2024 and I gotta say – it’s very modern to use various other solutions and avoid building sales pages.

For example, many creators choose to put all the key info on the checkout page and leave it at that.

But there are several reasons why building a sales page for your course is not only a good idea but can increase your course sales by A LOT:

  • It’s great for SEO – once you have a landing page, your course is more likely to be found via search enginges like Google
  • It provides a lot more insights to your ideal audience. Not everyone will be ready to buy after just a few sentences!
  • You have a lot bigger flexibility to give insights in the offer and build more confidence for your audience to buy

And that’s why this online course sales page template is here for you to explore!

Online course sales page template: sales page prompts for online courses

Online course sales page template

First of all – yes, this template CAN be used for selling any other offers as well.

Another thing to remember – you don’t have to use all of the provided sections on your page. However, keep in mind that we all make our buying decisions slightly different. While for some, a simple checkout would do, for others, it’s important to read more about the offer. Don’t dismiss the small details just because you might not care for them yourself.

Online course sales page copy elements to include:

  • The welcome banner
  • Problem overview
  • The solution
  • Inroduction to the Offer
  • The benefits
  • Is this a good fit for you?
  • Invitation to join + pricing details
  • What’s inside
  • Author’s bio

While you can follow this exact order, the order of the copy elements won’t matter as much as the copy itself.

Below you’ll find some sales page copy prompts to use for each of the sections.

The welcome banner

Welcome banner is the part your audience will see first when visiting your Sales page. Usually, it’s most of what’s seen “above the fold” – before someone has to scroll to read more. However, depending on how much content you want to add it can also take just a small part of the first screen (usually, at least 50%).

  • The name of your offer: of course, will be the title of your digital program. However, sometimes here you can also use the tagline
  • The tagline: a catchy phrase that shortly explains what your offer is all about and helps people to make the decision about whether or not to read any further
  • Short description: Tagline often can work along with this description, however, sometimes more clarification might be needed. In such case, the description will let your audience know a bit more about what exactly they could expect within this offer.

The main problem

You must have noticed that “paint the picture” part on the Sales pages where one wonders off in the world of “do you feel like…” and “does this sound like you?!”

And, no wonder, because people want to purchase products that can SPEAK TO THEM and solve their specific issues.

Therefore, an important part of this online course sales page template is to actually let your audience know how you can make their lives better.

It’s time to indicate the main pain points and “paint that picture” of the struggle your audience is currently going through.

The following prompts are just for inspiration, this can also be worded in a way that feels like a better fit for you!

  • Do you feel like…
  • Have you ever been struggling with…
  • Has (this specific issue) taken too much of your time and sanity?

The solution

After your audience has read it and said “yes, yes, YES!”, it’s time to introduce the solution. How will your exact offer help them to deal with this issue?

This part is NOT where you explain everything that will be IN your course or program. Instead, focus on the “providing solutions” part. What will they learn and how will it help?

  • In this course, you will learn to…
  • Once you have worked through all the lessons, you will have learned the strategies to deal with…
  • After this course, (this specific issue) will be your past because you’ll have learned how to…

Introduction to the Offer

Here I usually like to do either first introduction or a repeated “reminder” of what exactly this offer is all about and what can be expected.

Include the following details:

  • Welcoming headline
  • Repeat the tagline and/or short description
  • Add a mockup: promotional image that showcases what exactly will be in your product. In most cases, this includes a laptop and phone screen with the video content or worksheet samples.

The benefits

Now is the time to share some more specific benefits and/or lessons they can learn from joining your offer. You can use both – benefits and lessons – in different places of the page if it seems relevant.

Some of the benefit samples:

  • Reduce the time that you will need to [get this done].
  • Work with tested templates that have proven results!
  • Get a clear plan for the next steps to take and all the needed guidance to get there.

Is this a good fit for you?

You want to clarify your audience to attract the right people and an ideal way to get this done is by creating lists of “This course is for you if…” and “This will not be a good fit for you if…”

You can also choose to add only one of the lists on the page!

Invitation to join + pricing details

Here’s an overlooked part of Sales pages – you must actually INVITE your audience to JOIN. You know, do that bit of “if this is something you want to do, join us here!”

While buttons can be put all over the page (and there definitely should be more than just one button), there should be at least one dedicated area with all the pricing details and info about joining.

Details to include:

  • Invitation to join
  • Exactly how much will they pay now
  • Payment plan options (if any)
  • Is VAT included or no?
  • Later price/special offer details

What is included in the course?

Some might say, it’s the most important part of this online course sales page template…

Now you can share more details about what exactly can be expected on the other side.

While numbers of the lessons or the length of your videos shouldn’t be used as the key selling factor, the sales page will require for you to include these details:

  • Module review: what will be the modules or the main topics covered and what lessons will be included or what questions will be reviewed
  • Platforms like Teachable and Thinkific have built-in Curriculums that can be put on the page, however, you can also design them in a different way, for example, with icons instead
  • Info about the included educational content

Your bio

Author’s bio – introduction to you – is one of those elements that can be used higher on the page as well if you choose to do so.

Either way, this is a crucial element as it will create another opportunity to BUILD TRUST and lock in the sale.

Some pre-requisites for a good bio:

  • Keep it short! Don’t treat this part as your About page.
  • Choose some of the key elements that build trust, for example, how long you’ve been doing this and who have been your clients or what has been your success gives some background and helps your audience to seal the deal and understand why they should learn exactly from you showcases your personality, add elements that speak your truth or make you stand out from the crowd.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions – or FAQ – will cover all the last bits and pieces your audience might have in mind, as well as remind about all of the key elements.

Usually FAQ is not too long and has very clear and straight answers. However, the details will depend on your offer and how many clarifications might be needed!

Keep in mind though: your offer should be understandable even without FAQ being present! FAQ section should be just the final roundup.
